There were details I wish I had more info to go on. When reading, I felt like things jumped out at me but I wasn't making the connection the writer wanted. The backstories to this story would be an interesting read. Maybe a few more rereads and I'll see the authors complete vision. ### Review : SteamWorld Build URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/review-steamworld-build/ Last updated: 2026-10-04T14:46:57.000Z Game Shelf Card ### SteamWorld Build Game Type Video Game Genre Simulation / Strategy / City Builder Rated Not rated by ESRB / Recommended 10 and up Platform / Format Windows / Nintendo Switch / PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5 / Xbox One / Xbox Series X/S Cross-Platform No Players 1 player Creator / Developer The Station Publisher Thunderful Publishing Franchise SteamWorld, Thunderful Publishing Engine Unity Release Date Dec 1, 2023 Played As Solo Played 131hrs last played Unavailable Review Spoilers Minor Spoilers Rating โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜† **Best For:**Players who like steampunk, robots, the old west, and city building with some combat. **Vibe:**Vibrant Colors, Easy Listening Music, and Adorable Art that makes you Feel at Ease as you Play. **Nerdy Pleasure Factor:**๐Ÿญ Eye Candy / โ˜• Cozy Play Material / ๐ŸŽถ Soundscape Spell ## Premise You are breaking ground on a new frontier as the planet dies around you! The railroad and the Station is essential to leaving it behind. You'll have to dig deep to excavate long-lost spacefaring technology, while ensuring everyone has the vital water, fuel and comforts they need in your ever growing town in the mean time. ## Pros The art style is really charming. Each Destination you can use varies in looks and offers a unique reward to help you in other game plays. This encouraged me to keep playing to see them all and collect the rewards from each. There are themes you can use on the Destinations to change up their appearance too like Steam Fright that makes your towns spookier. I have a lot of fun decorating my towns and watching all the little steambots going about their business. And the soundtrack and sounds are enchanting. I usually turn off music and sounds down in games but not this one. Thank you Ola Bรคckstrรถm. There is combat in the lower level mines that can get a little tedious but once I learned how to fortify for the attacks it became more enjoyable. The fact you can post your guards and weapons near the attack locations makes the fights more automated. Set it and forget it. ### Cons I finished the main game to quickly. Under 140 hrs in and I even finished all the steam achievements too. There hasn't been any news of content being planned for the future either. I haven't had the desire to play the Mechanized DLC. ## Nerdy Take I believe SteamWorld Build is a great introduction for those new to city builders. It is very easy to learn. If you are a Steam Achievement junkie than you'll have a fun and easy time completing them for this game. I think its perfect for kids and adults especially families who like video gaming. Since I haven't been playing the DLC maybe I should. It really is a fun casual game. Also dealing with the fact she had to kill Skullbuster and wasn't frightened by it, will Kwannon be able to continue without killing more during her mission? ## Dialogue and Story This issue continues smoothly from where the last issue left off. She is still on a mission to save children and the story does well to bring it to conclusion. We also get an introduction to a new character that brings a little more insight into Psylocke. Their conversations were very enlightening and written well. ## Illustrations and Lettering The same great quality from issue 1 is seen in issue 2\. Vincenzo Carratรน and Fer Sifuentes-Sujo work well together to bring Psylocke to life in a world that amplifies her ninja grace. The color pallet is perfect for the action and drama the story brings. I really liked seeing again the purple wash over Psylocke during combat like an enhanced afterimage. The familiar lettering and speech bubbles helped reading flow. And the continued use of the butterfly effect around their heads let me know when psychic abilities are in effect. ### Negatives I have issues with the cover again. It is not flattering as it could have been. The way the chest area is shadowed doesn't look right to me. Inside I had no real complaints. ## Nerdy Take I was happy to get an answer to one of my questions from issue #1, what will she do with the children? Now I know. When one mission ends, another one starts and I'm ready for issue #3\. This next one has even more at stake. A Peek Behind the Panel ### Want to know what the opening page is already telling us? Open the Spoiler Ward Psylocke may of just killed Skullbuster but she is also remembering a childhood friend that seem to really care about Kwannon when they were being trained by The Hand as kids. Her hardship as a child is probably the reason she is so adamant about saving the children. Maybe she couldn't save this childhood friend. Enjoying the peek? I'm shocked that it was a response to [Intelligent Design](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intelligent%5Fdesign?ref=nerdypleasures.com) being taught in schools but I'm glad someone spoke up. Even better it was done satirically in a letter. The [letter](https://www.spaghettimonster.org/about/open-letter/?ref=nerdypleasures.com) Bobby Henderson sent to Kansas State Board of Education was well written and hilarious. The claims to why the Flying Spaghetti Monster should be taught along with Intelligent Design and Evolution made sense. The kicker is when it states *His* chosen outfit is **full pirate regalia** and anyone teaching the religion should be wearing it out of respect. There is even a part in the letter correlating the decrease in pirates with increase of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Of course, the holiday and religion belong together. My main worry about a lot of religions is Faith. I feel it allows people to be delusional instead of productive. I don't want children dying from things that can be cured by science because it is against their parents religion. So I'm not a fan of them. But I do believe in FREEDOM of religion, so if you going to teach one you better teach them all and I mean all of them. Now that I have examined the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster closer, maybe this one isn't so bad. And who's to argue with Ancient Aliens Theorist?๐ŸคฃBut seriously whatever you believe in, be a better person for it, still engage in logic, and have a little fun, matey. How about a tune to get you in the swashbuckling mood? Gruel provides hunger and some thirst relief. When your hunger or thirst drop to 90% sip on the gruel to refill them or use it keep them topped off. This way the water can be saved to cool yourself off when it is needful or if your thirst drops to fast. The ingredients to cook gruel are plant fiber and seeds which are really easy to gather anywhere. And since you can cook gruel at a campfire, it is a lot easier than making feasts or soups at a stove. Gruel also has a 1 hour and 20 minutes expiration timer which is decent. Plus you can share with your thralls if they run out of food and need to heal. But gruel shouldn't replace Stat foods if you're inclined to use them, now that food can be used sparingly just to refresh the buff instead of just fulfilling hunger or thirst. Eventually soups and feasts become a better option if you enjoy cooking. I tend to eat a lot of feasts and soups scavenged from NPCs corpses and boxes/chests. ## Tip #2: Don't forget to put down a bedroll. When you die you can choose to respawn at your bed, bedroll, or start so placing a bed and bedroll is very important step. If you feel you are at a point where you'd hit the save button in other games then you should probably put a bedroll down. There is nothing more annoying than dying and end up respawning at your bed half way across the map or worse and be all the way back at the very start. Your old bedroll will get destroyed when you put a new one down. Bedrolls should be treated as your mobile throwaway spawn point and beds should be used as your main spawn point. You can attune to a different bed at anytime allowing you to update where you'd like your main spawn point to be. I like to keep beds various places and attune to them if I plan to be in the area for a while. This way I can keep my bedroll more readily available. ## Tip #3: Check all chests and boxes. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/08/conanExilesE_BoxNearRiver.jpg) There is a few boxes near the river that are very beneficial when you first start in the Exile Lands. They usually have items like health potions, healing wraps, bedrolls, beds, tents, and some low level crafting materials. The tent is the most useful thing to get from those boxes because it offers sandstorm protection when placed and you are underneath. This way you get the protection sooner than later and not have to spend the Knowledge points to learn tent making or sandstorm & gas mask. Tents can be placed and picked back up without destroying them. Some of the early chests may even have a mask that offers sandstorm and gas protection. As you venture further, boxes will have better loot like weapons, armor, tools, higher tiers of crafting materials, decorations, etc. Most useful from these boxes is the weapons and tools that are usually better than what you can make at your level. When starting on the Isle of Siptah, opening boxes on the beach are very helpful because they usually have wood and stones for building your first place. Of course as you explore deeper onto the isle you'll find chests and boxes that will have a wide variety of useful stuff. ## Tip #4: Get an armorer sooner than later. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/08/conanExilesE_ScoutwrightEnisIronwrought.jpg) Because Enis is a Scoutwright (one of the level IV armor types), she gives ++reduced weight, +armor, +durability when guarding at your settlement. She usually spawns in the exile camps around the river. Appearance may vary. Any armorer thrall gives you access to the **Stitch** recipe so you can take regular hides with string and turn them into thick hides at a **Tanner's Table**. In doing so you get to use a higher level crafting material without traveling far from the beginning area to farm it from a mob. With this you are able to craft heavy armor that has a higher armor value sooner for you and your thralls. The better the armor value the more damage reduction you will have against attacks. ## Tip #5: Don't compulsively save your repair kits. I generally use these on the dropped gear and weapons I use while leveling in the beginning. Since it is unlikely I can repair these myself, I just use the kits and take the durability loss. Armor or weapons breaking in the middle of battle isn't ideal. A good portion of the early game play can be done in dropped gear and weapons. Give nearly broken items to your thralls. This is a great use of hard to repair items because thrall equipment and weapons don't take durability loss. ## Tip #6: Prepare for extreme heat and cold temperatures. At first the cold will just make you hungry faster and heat makes you thirsty sooner. Extreme temperatures will kill you if not properly addressed tho. Keep this in mind before you go in the snowy areas and the volcano. There is gear that can be crafted that has better resists stat for either one or equally the same amount for both. Foods and drinks can be made to help warm you up or cool you down too while out adventuring. Drinking water offers a cooling stat effect so if you are already cold you shouldn't drink water. But eating spiced pork gives a warming up stat effect. Being submerged in water also gives a cooling effect. But being near say a furnace or campfire can get to hot and start to reduce your health. Torches will add to cold resist but some special ones are suppose to give heat resist instead. ## Tip #7: Evade your enemy by swimming, climbing up high, retreating, or slipping pass. If you find yourself in a battle you most likely aren't going to win then swim out into a body of water or climb up something to get away. NPCs/Mobs usually reset when they can't fight you anymore. They also reset position if you run them far enough away from their spawn point. It is possible to get a group to reset while you pick off one to keep fighting and kill. You can avoid the sandstorm by being under the water and just pop up for air every so often. The pitfalls are climbing isn't enabled in some places especially dungeons and deep water isn't always available either. Avoiding a battle is a possibility too, sometimes you are able to sneak behind the enemy when their backs are turned or stay out of aggro range all together. ## Tip #8: Don't get hit. I'm not being sarcastic. Like most games you can learn an NPCs/Mobs moves and with the ability to dodge you should be able to avoid getting hit. But for those times dodging isn't the way you can use a shield to block. Sometimes its best to keep on the offensive to keep the opponent from being able to attack. And other times you might want to have your thralls/pets handle it instead. ## Tip #9: Carry a bow and a melee weapon. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/08/conanExilesE_bowAndmelee.jpg) Even if you don't plan on putting points in Agility, it is helpful to have a bow for pulling and hit things from far away. There is definite times you'll need a bow to accomplish things so it is best to be prepared. And even if you are going Agility and want to main a bow, it is still a good idea to carry an Agility melee weapon for close quarters combat situations. ## Tip #10: Tame the environment with your builds. It can be annoying to run into the same set of hyena every time you want to cross somewhere you frequent often. Try building something where they spawn like a guard tower. This will cause them not to spawn again. Another thing is don't be afraid to build steps, use bridges, and try elevators to get around hard to navigate terrain. URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/looking-for-a-new-gaming-monitor/ Last updated: 2026-09-17T04:17:39.000Z ### ASUS TUF Gaming 34โ€ Ultra-Wide Curved Monitor is a winner. The screen's full measurements is 34"D x 15"W x 10"H which is basically the same as two of my old monitors put together. I like how the wide width brings the edges of the screen almost to the edges of my peripherals. There isn't as much dead space framing the screen like with my old monitor. My view is sufficiently full of screen now. And the resolution of 3440 x 1440 pixels is better than 1920 x 1080 pixels in my opinion. Video games look spectacular on the ultra-wide curved screen with the 180 hertz refresh rate. I don't just use it for gaming tho. The bigger screen size has improved my workflow too since I'm able to pull up Firefox Browser and LibreOffice side by side without them competing for screen space. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/08/screenshot_on_AsusTUFgamingCurvedWideScreenMonitor.jpg) With this I can copy paste previous work from one to the other easier or do research and write posts at the same time. Plus all this space offers even more options for screen division that I didn't feel was possible on my old monitor. I could also bring up Visual Studio Code on the right just below LibreOffice to make pasting code faster. Side View in my Firefox browser works better now too. I'm sure there are more use to come. ### Cons Cant tilt the monitor that much only between +23ยฐ to -5ยฐ on base. Doesn't move up and down on base. Ports aren't the easiest to get to. ## Nerdy Take The cons are easily fixed by mounting it on arm which I'll do eventually. Over all I couldn't be happier for both my husband and I. Being homebodies, we find our self in front of one kind of screen or another through out the day. Even books are read on screens these days. It does make reading on Archive.org a better experience. And with gaming being one of our top hobbies, it was about time we upgraded to the ultra-wide curved experience. ### Review : Neuromancer by William Gibson URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/william-gibson-neuromancer-review/ Last updated: 2026-09-05T01:08:49.000Z A public review of the book and at the end a free members only elaboration on the protagonist's personality with spoilers. _This post is for subscribers only._ ### Review : Widow's Bay Season 1 URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/review-widows-bay-season-1/ Last updated: 2026-09-22T17:08:10.000Z Show Watch Card ### Widow's Bay Season 1 ![Widow's Bay Season 1 Poster](https://gallery.nerdypleasures.com/uploads/medium/fe/af/babfecb73c31a8aeb8880306a6c8.jpg) Type Series Genre Comedy / Supernatural / Horror / Mystery / Drama Content Rating TV-MA Creator Katie Dippold Platform Apple TV Release Date April 29, 2026 Runtime 31โ€“48 minutes Episodes 10 Watched On Apple TV Review Spoilers Spoiler-free Rating โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜†โ˜† **Best For:**Viewers who like quirky supernatural mysteries with New England charm. **Vibe:**Slow Burn Comedic Cringe with Horror without tons of Gore. **Nerdy Pleasure Factor:**๐ŸŽฒ Worth the Roll / ๐Ÿงช Weird Experiment Approved ## Synopsis The mayor of small New England island ignores the superstitious residents till strange things start happening to him and the people around him as he tries to revitalize Widow's Bay. ## Acting I think Matthew Rhys plays the dopey Mayor Tom Loftis well. Kate O'Flynn is great at being Patricia, the goofy and loyal assistant to the mayor. Stephen Root is hilarious as every as Wyck, a superstitious townie. And Dale Dickey is a hoot playing Rosemary, the nonchalant mayor's office worker. The rest of the cast were great in their roles too. ## Directing & Writing Even though the show seemed slow at times I understood it was its weird way of building up the suspense. But once the action started, I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see where it would go next. It felt like every episode was a cliffhanger. I do have my questions about how people react on the island. I cant tell if it is how they are suppose to be written or if its bad writing. There is a point where someone finds out something big and yells, scaring everyone. But then they never explain to anyone what they found, and it seems to get forgotten that they even yelled in the first place. ## Cinematography No complaints here but nothing to praise either. ## Costume Design & Makeup The cast was done up well. I feel everyone looked appropriate for their character. Didn't catch any out of place zippers and the prosthetics work was good. Some of the horror makeup looked campy but that's part of the show's charm. ## Set Design & Filming Location The locations for filming captured the feeling of being on a small remote island. Homes, businesses, and other buildings worked well to keep the charm of a New England town. Not once did I feel like a location was out of place. ## Music, Sound, & Lighting Satisfactory. Don't have any notes on these. ## SFX & CGI Also satisfactory. I don't have any complaints about the special effects or the computer generated imagery on the show. ## Nerdy Take **Widow's Bay** for me was a challenge to watch but the odd bits I caught kept me wanting more. The strangeness of the island made it feel like it was stuck in the 90s but obviously the rest of the world had moved on and it's Mayor wants to too. But can the town survive it? I eagerly await to see what befalls Widow's Bay next in season 2. ### Review: Red Sonja (2025) URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/review-red-sonja-2025/ Last updated: 2026-09-21T18:08:10.000Z Movie Watch Card ### Red Sonja (2025) ![Red Sonja (2025)](https://gallery.nerdypleasures.com/uploads/medium/33/2a/bc63688ef98c13fca9700d4ea7d7.jpg) Genre Action / Adventure / Fantasy / Sword & Sorcery Content Rating Rated R for strong/bloody violence. She is trying to protect her forest from destruction by an Emperor with machines of destruction. ## Acting Matilda Lutz was not the right choice for the barbarian babe, Red Sonja. I'm not into a lot of muscles but when I watch something from the Conan Universe I expect to see tight bodies with definition. Her mannerisms didn't portray powerful warrior either. Wallis Day outshines the rest of the cast as Annisia. And Robert Sheehan's character, Emperor Draygan the Magnificent, was insufferable but played well by him. ## Directing & Writing The story line was predictable and boring and the director didn't help bring it to life at all. Scenes meant to bring on emotion fell flat. ## Cinematography Nothing stood out as especially good. ## Stunts & Choreography There aren't any memorable stunts and the fighting was action-less. Red Sonja didn't come off to me as a good fighter. Her backstory lends no credit to her knowing how to fight let alone know how to deal with someone in armor. ## Costume Design & Makeup The generic beauty makeup was fine but when it came to war paints it came off muddy and unprofessional. Sonja's armor upgrade was silver which I thought was suppose to be metal but it looked like poorly done leather armor. Scale mail bikini makes sorta since but it being draped on the chest area of a breast plate just looks stupid. I expect a bit of whimsy with comic adaptations but a lot of the looks came off as bad costumes. And the sharpened teeth for one of the characters just looked like an overbite. ## Set Design & Filming Locations Set design and filming locations wasn't anything to write home about either but wasn't displeasing to the eyes at least. ## Music, Sound, & Lighting There wasn't a point where I felt lighting was bad. I did find some of the acting in the scene didn't meet some of the expectations of the background music. ## SFX & CGI It was not quality. Very noticeable that it was computer generated. ## Nerdy Take I give this one star only because some of the filming locations were pretty and I feel bad for some of the actors and actresses. The rest of the movie was horrible. ### Review : The Instigator by Rhuairidh James URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/review-the-instigator-by-rhuairidh-james/ Last updated: 2026-09-29T05:01:18.000Z Story Shelf Card ### The Instigator by Rhuairidh James Published In Da Red Gobbo Collection Publication Date November 16, 2024 Genre Sci-Fi / Fantasy Read As Short Story in White Dwarf Issue 494 Review Spoilers Spoiler-free public review Rating โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜…โ˜… **Best For:**Readers who like reading Warhammer 40k Ork stroies with a twist. **Vibe:**Mystery with a little gore. **Nerdy Pleasure Factor:**๐ŸŽฒ Worth the Roll / โœจ Small Spell, Sharp Teeth ## Synopsis This is a prequel short story to the novella Da Gobbo Rides Again, also by Rhuairidh James. It demonstrated how to get the basic shape of a D20 in 5 steps. I have made some minor tweaks to the original steps. Here's how I do it now. ## Step 1 ### Draw an M with the bottom point a little longer than the legs. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/06/howtodraw-D20-step1.jpg) ## Step 2 ### Add two lines going up from the sides of the M's legs a little longer than the two top points. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/06/howtodraw-D20-step2.jpg) ## Step 3 ### Create triangles by drawing lines to connect the points at the top and bottom. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/06/howtodraw-D20-step3.jpg) ## Step 4 ### Draw a triangle up from the center triangle and connect the point down with a line on both sides to make two more triangles. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/06/howtodraw-D20-step4.jpg) ## Step 5 ### Add a line down from the bottom of the tip of the center triangle and connect the points to form two triangles. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/06/howtodraw-D20-step5.jpg) ### Ten triangles later and you are done. Only thing left is the numbers and/or decorations. ### 6 Tips for an Efficient SteamWorld Build Town URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/6-tips-for-an-efficient-steamworld-build-town/ Last updated: 2026-09-29T15:05:27.000Z ## Tip #1: Don't neglect the tumble weeds. Collect them as soon as you see them. Span around the map to find them. Inside is free stuff to help you build like money! ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/SteamWorldBuild-tumbleweed.jpg) Tumbleweeds look like balls of junk that have a sparkle effect. They could be rolling or stationary. ## Tip #2: Use a grid system to form town blocks. Try starting from the **Station** and create an 8x16 squares sized rectangle around it with roads to create your first town block. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/SteamWorldBuild-8x16squaresStation.jpg) Continue to make a grid out from this when you add more roads. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/SteamWorldBuild-grid-1.jpg) I haven't done the math but I have found this configuration works best for me when it comes connectivity. It allows for **Housing** to be swapped out for **Services** and vice versa in a growing town. ## Tip #3: Don't be fooled by the spread of a wooded area. Some wooded areas look large but density is low. And you can only place a few **Foresters** in the area. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/SteamWorldBuild-lowdensityforest.jpg) Low density Look for denser clusters of trees. This allows you to pack in more **Foresters** next to each other and keep 100% fertility. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/SteamWorldBuild-highdensityforest.jpg) High density This is important because logs and boards are easy to stockpile and can be used at the **Station** to trade for things you need or cannot make yet. ## Tip #4: Establish different districts. If you've set up a grid in your city it will be easier to create districts. You can keep areas separated by clustering related building into industrial zones, neighborhoods, and services within the blocks you've created. I suggest picking the block with the **Station** as your first industrial zone because this acts like your first **Warehouse**. Place **Resource** refinery buildings like the **Lumbermill** here. Move your **Housing** and **Services** to the opposite blocks. This will be your dividing line, one half for industrial and the other half for neighborhoods and services. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/SteamWorldBuild-divideddistricts.jpg) Top of the white line, Industrial zone. Below the line, services and neighborhoods. Place **Houses** in neighborhood blocks of their own with **Service** blocks between them. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/SteamWorldBuild-housingandservices.jpg) Housing for Engineers on the left, Services in the center, and Worker housing on the right. ## Tip #5: Don't be stingy with Warehouses. When **Warehouses** become available, place them close to large clusters of **Resource** refinery buildings for more delivery access. Plus put them near buildings like the **Forester** that may be farther away from town. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/SteamWorldBuild-warehouseplacement.jpg) Warehouses are marked with stars. ## Tip #6: Upgrade roads as soon as you can. Better roads means faster deliveries and improved range of buildings. You start with **dirt** roads as seen in the images for Tip #2 then progress to **paved** as seen in the other tips. Finally comes **maglev** seen below. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/SteamWorldBuild-maglev.jpg) ### And with these six tips, your town should be running more efficiently and ready for growth. ๐Ÿ˜Š Happy Building [Review : SteamWorld BuildA public review of the video game SteamWorld Build.![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/icon/favicon-1-b5729feb-5e4a-4036-8803-1e4121650aae.ico)Nerdy PleasuresCarrie![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/thumbnail/steamworldBuildPoster-82897183-82a6-42f2-b766-f7061d9b1dfd.jpg)](https://nerdypleasures.com/review-steamworld-build/) If you're interested, here's my review on the game. ### Review : Psylocke (2024) Issue 1 URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/review-psylocke-2024-issue-1/ Last updated: 2026-09-30T04:57:40.000Z A public review of the comic book and at the end a free members only in-depth analysis that include spoilers. _This post is for subscribers only._ ### I love 3D Printing! URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/i-love-3d-printing/ Last updated: 2026-08-15T03:23:42.000Z We got our first 3D printer at the beginning of COVID. Made some useful and playful prints. Since then, we bought matching Sovols. My printer is named Pink. I printed pink accessories for it with Pinkie Pie as inspiration. Most mornings, I would wake and print. One day, I made a mistake of forgetting to put the build plate back on the heatbed. The hotend nozzle damaged the magnetic surface at one corner. But the thing printed fine afterword. "*Look before you print.*" became my new motto. Pink sadly is out of commission right now. We also have a resin printer but only used it once. Our best printer at the moment is a K1 Max shown in action below. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/05/3DprinterPrintingBW.jpeg) The printing plate was bought separate. It's geometric design imprints smoothly on the first layer giving prints more pizazz. When we first started printing, we were getting most of our prints from [Thingiverse.com](https://www.thingiverse.com/?ref=nerdypleasures.com). We've since then used a few 3D modeling tools to make our own prints. I like using [Tinkercad.com](https://www.tinkercad.com/?ref=nerdypleasures.com). They've created a simple modeling tool that uses basic shapes and others like stars, usable nuts and bolts, springs, and even 3d polar bear. Some are even user made. I used it to model and then print a sauce packet organizer for my kitchen drawer to keep all the Taco Bell sauces separated, stands for various vapes, things for pegboards, and even a cap for a flash drive. And I'm always plotting new model ideas. Check the gallery below for images of some of those items and more of my prints. If you want the sauce packet organizer, you can grab it over at NerdyPrinter on [Printables.com](https://www.printables.com/@NerdyPrinter%5F4851115/models?ref=nerdypleasures.com). ### A Comic Book Fan Emerges! URL: https://nerdypleasures.com/comic-book-fan-emerges/ Last updated: 2026-09-29T15:23:11.000Z When I was a kid, there was a X-Men animated series that I'd watch on Saturday mornings. My favorite of the X-men was Rogue. For villains, the choice is Mystique. Which is funny because Mystique is Rogue's adopted mom. Finding out that it's based on comic book was cool but at the time I wasn't into comics. I've watched all most all of the X-Men movies over the years. But now that I go to my local comic/hobby shop every so often for Orks, a comic with exquisite cover art caught my eye and I had to buy it. I bet you can guess which one, [Psylocke](https://www.marvel.com/comics/series/41987/psylocke%5F2024%5Fpresent?ref=nerdypleasures.com) (2024) Issue #1 with variant cover. Thank you Stanley "Artgerm" Lau for that cover art (shown below) and writer, Alyssa Wong. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/04/psylocke1variant_artgerm.jpg) I also snagged a copy with the original cover. Have read all 10 comic books and each issue left me wanting more because I'm so into the whole psychic ninja thing. I'd love to have her powers and physical prowess. She fights the good fight and tries to protects the people she cares about. I find it interesting that she was trained by The Hand and she's trying to be a heroine with the X-Men these days. Turns out I am more of an X-Men fan than I thought, definitely a Psylocke one. Now there is a new comic, [Psylocke: Ninja](https://www.marvel.com/comics/series/44888/psylocke%5Fninja%5F2026%5Fpresent?ref=nerdypleasures.com) (2026) and I missed my opportunity to buy it locally. But lucky there are websites willing to ship you comics. I'm eager to read more about her past when she was reborn into Betsy Braddock. I've thought about picking up [X-Men](https://www.marvel.com/comics/series/39439/xmen%5F2024%5Fpresent?ref=nerdypleasures.com) (2024) for more Psylocke action but there are 32 issues at the moment. That's a lot $ and reading to catch up on. I could use Marvel Unlimited but I prefer having my own physical copy to read at any time. And its not just a comic book, it is art too that deserves showcasing. So I found a wire framed canvas stand that comes in gold or silver color at Dollar Tree that holds all my Psylocke comics. They are displayed in our living room on our bookcase with Frank Herbert's Dune books box set, Defiance Hellbug in box, and 3D printed stargate shaped coasters from Stargate SG-1. Don't get me wrong, Nurgle and Slaanesh are pretty cool too. And who doesn't love Salamanders and the Sisters of Battle? But the ork kulture is so much fun. So add the theme to miniatures and you have me sold. Another thing I like is [Orkoid physiology is a symbiotic combination of animal and fungus, integrated such that each augments the operation of the other and both work in perfect harmony](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Ork?ref=nerdypleasures.com#Biology). Even more remarkable, Orks create their own ecosystem๐Ÿ„ that infests and reproduces wherever they go. > This world is GREEEEEN! > \- Ugulhard ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/04/thisworldisgreen.png) Hammer and Bolter: Episode 3 Old Bale Eye Also they have their own colorful magical belief system powered by Gork and Mork in the Great Green. Red makes it go faster. Yellow makes explosions bigger and projects wealth. Blue is lucky. Black is tough. White is deadly. And if they believe they are camouflaged then they most likely are despite what pattern they used. So you can see why I've been buying orks left and right. I've only managed to assemble a Runtherder and his Gretchen, Kommandos, Goth Rocker, and some Squighog Boyz. Painted none. I still have in box Ufthak Blackhawk, Zodgrod Wortsnagga, Mozrog Skragbad, Pain Boss, Beast Snagga Boyz, Kill Rig, Rukkatrukk Squigbuggy, and another set of Squighog Boyz. Most of my models lean toward the Snakebites clan. I'm infatuated with squigs. They are adorable balls of fury. ![](https://nerdypleasures.com/content/images/2026/04/np_bombsquigSquighogBoyz.jpg) Bomb Squig from Squighog Boyz Kit But I like the idea of a Bad Moons or Freebooterz army. Rich or outcasts? Both seem great for some creative kit bashing and colour schemes. Once I make a decision tho, there's even more fun to be had in the backstory, names, and painting. Then I can giv'em da dakka dakka dakka, they deserve. Waaagh! Who will win this clash between three clans and become the next army to lead. Who's your favorite to win; [Snakebites](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Snakebites?ref=nerdypleasures.com), [Bad Moons](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Bad%5FMoons?ref=nerdypleasures.com), or [Freebooterz](https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Freebooter?ref=nerdypleasures.com)?
