Rating

Best For: Players who like to hack and slash through an open world and having the freedom to build, survive, and dominate with "friends" or alone plus can handle brutal and grotesque themes.

Vibe: Dark and twisted sword and sorcery with a splash of Eldritch horror.

Nerdy Pleasure Factor: 🕹️ One More Turn / 📜 Lore-Heavy Delight /🩸 Deliciously Dark

Premise

You've been accused of horrible crimes and left for dead as an Exile but you are rescued. What do you do now? Try to find a way to leave, just survive, or rule the Exile Lands?

Pros

We like what the Enhanced update has done to the game. Graphics look good with the new lighting. They have really created a beautiful world to explore. The base building and character customization is decent. Combat is proactive but easy to find your fighting style. You can beat the game or spend thousands of hours just dominating the lands. The story and lore is a big draw especially if you are into expansions of Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian and his collaborations with H.P. Lovecraft and his Cthulhu mythos.

Cons

What turns us off about the game is the use of a cash shop instead of more DLCs. Some of the coding seems lazy when it comes to minor things like the same sounds for different emotes, hovering furniture in villages, or your followers falling through the environment. The lack of free cam while building sucks too. But the biggest complaint is the fact that Self-Hosted severs are still tied to Funcom's live servers so our home server gets disconnected when they go down.

Nerdy Take

We are really into the story, lore, and setting of the game. It's a big contributing factor to why we came back after the Enhanced Update. We were eager to see how they improved the game and to see what else they added to the world. Not disappointed. And they've just added Legacy of the Giant-Kings, a brand-new four-part story arc, sending you deep beneath the Unnamed City into one of the Exiled Lands’ most dangerous and mysterious locations yet: the Cyclopean Halls.
